In Solidarity With Parkland
National Walkout Day was held on March 14, 2018, it is a day chosen to remember the victims of the unimaginable tragedy that took place in Parkland, FL. In solidarity with the students of Marjory Stone Douglas High School, the Oxford community spoke out against gun violence. Oxford designated space in Knight Hall to display 17 backpacks representing the 17 people killed in the school shooting in February of 2018. This space also offered resources for students to write to our state and local government officials regarding safer communities and gun control. Finally, the Art Department offered a powerful illustration to promote anti-violence and at 10:00 a.m. organized a walkout in support of this movement.
