For students who would like an additional year to prepare for a successful college experience, Oxford Academy offers a program of individualized instruction geared toward building confidence.
Tailored for Success: Your Personalized PG Experience
No two PG journeys at Oxford are the same. Through a collaborative partnership between the student, their family, and our expert faculty, we design a bespoke curriculum that balances rigorous challenge with individualized support.
What Our Students Achieve:
- Strengthen Core Disciplines: Master English, Science, Math, or History through focused study.
- Enhance College Candidacy: Build a competitive academic transcript and a robust extracurricular profile.
- Personal Growth: Cultivate leadership, maturity, and the essential “soft skills” of adulthood.
- Career Exploration: Gain real-world perspective through professional externships and job-shadowing.
- Academic Recovery: Close learning gaps and regain momentum following academic setbacks.
- Pursue Passions: Deepen expertise in specific athletic, artistic, or academic interests.
Mastering the Architecture of Success: Executive Functioning
A cornerstone of the Oxford PG year is the systematic development of Executive Functioning (EF) skills. These cognitive processes are the engine of achievement, allowing students to manage thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to reach their goals.
Our program provides concrete strategies to improve:
- Planning & Prioritization: Mastering the art of organization and realistic scheduling.
- Focus & Attention: Sustaining concentration while filtering out modern distractions.
- Working Memory: Enhancing the ability to retain and apply information in real-time.
- Self-Control: Developing the emotional regulation and impulse control vital for independence.
- Cognitive Flexibility: Learning to pivot and adapt when plans change.
- Self-Monitoring: Building the self-awareness to evaluate and adjust one’s own performance.
Program Models: Choosing Your Pathway
We offer two primary pathways designed to meet the diverse needs of our postgraduate students:
1. Standard Graduate Program (SGP)
The SGP is an immersive academic experience designed to build core confidence.
- The Focus: Mastery of reading, writing, and mathematics through Oxford’s personalized teaching principles.
- The Structure: A schedule built around core classes that reinforce the habits and systems necessary for high-level academic engagement.
- The Freedom: Students enjoy increased independence and are expected to manage their own study time, supported by staff-led coaching in time management.
2. Hybrid Oxford Program (HOP)
The HOP is a dynamic model that blends traditional on-campus learning with off-campus professional and academic exploration.
- The Mix: Mornings are dedicated to Oxford classes, leaving afternoons open for high-impact opportunities such as:
- Dual Enrollment with Landmark College.
- Maritime Program
- Community Engagement
- Student Futures: Local business internships and part-time employment.
- The Support: Each HOP student is paired with a dedicated mentor to guide their transition between campus life and external commitments.
